The World Premiere of the 2024 Volvo EX90

On November 9th, during a special event in central Stockholm, the highly-anticipated Volvo EX90 made its world debut. The first of a new generation for Volvo Cars, the fully electric and software-defined vehicle was revealed to a lucky group of attendees as well as livestreamed to those patiently watching across the world.

For nearly 100 years, Volvo’s purpose has been to innovate and set new standards for automobiles. With the Volvo EX90, the legacy continues. By the year 2040, Volvo aims to be a fully circular and climate-neutral company. With the addition of the all-electric EX90, a powerful and smooth vehicle with an electric range up to 480m and a charge time of only 30 minutes, they are well on their way.

By designing the interior composition of the EX90 with a focus on reflecting the company’s sustainability goals, Volvo has reinterpreted luxury and well-being. Sustainable features start from within, with the model utilizing a progressive material Volvo has named Nordico, a sustainable material created from textiles made from recycled materials such as PET bottles, as well as bio-attributed material from responsibly-managed forests in Sweden and Finland.

The EX90 offers customers the option of a wool blend seat finishing, a fabric certified according to strict sustainability standards on animal welfare, environmental and social issues. The Volvo EX90 also offers customers the opportunity to personalize their car’s own unique atmosphere and appearance by choosing between seven different ‘rooms’ that synchronize interior deco and upholstery with the exterior colours of the vehicle.

The EX90 contains more recycled plastics in order to use less finite, primary resources, including almost 50 kilogrammes of recycled plastics and bio-based materials per vehicle. That’s the highest amount of non-primary fossil-based materials in the Volvo line-up, setting a new bar for the future.

Volvo also took incredible care in utilizing state of the art safety technology in the EX90, including Pilot Assist and Lidar and Safe Space Technology. The vehicle features an advanced standard exterior sensor set with radars, cameras and ultrasonic as well as a lidar that continuously scans the environment in front of the car, enabling an accurate and high-precision estimate of the shape and size of objects in three-dimensional understanding of the surroundings.
