All electric and sustainable down to the last stitch. An inside look at 2024 Volvo EX90.

November 2nd, 2022 by

Sustainability is as important to Volvo Cars as safety. By working towards climate-neutrality, embracing the circular economy and conducting our business operations responsibly, we help protect the planet and contribute to a fairer society.

Our goal is to be a fully circular and climate-neutral company by the year 2040 and one of our newest additions to the all-electric family, the 2024 EX90 follows in these footsteps. Although we won’t get all the details of the highly-anticipated vehicle for a few more weeks, we wanted to treat you to an inside look into a few of the flagship SUV’s sustainable features.

Sustainable features start at the seams with the use of a progressive material Volvo has named Nordico. The sustainable fabric is created from textiles sourced from recycled materials such as PET bottles, as well as bio-attributed material from responsibly-managed forests in Sweden and Finland. Nordico is carefully crafted to be a contemporary expression of Scandinavian values as well as progressive and technically advanced material that sets a new standard for premium interior design. The FSCā„¢-certified wood panels that adorn the cabin and back-lit with warm light come together with the Nordico fabric to create the atmosphere of a Scandinavian living room and evoke the calm sensation of the Nordic wilderness.

Further enhancing the experience of a pleasant and elegant car interior, the EX90 offers customers the option of a wool blend seat finishing, a fabric certified according to strict sustainability standards on animal welfare, as well as environmental and social issues. The Volvo EX90 also offers owners the opportunity to personalize their car’s own unique atmosphere and appearance by choosing between seven different ā€˜rooms’ that synchronize interior deco and upholstery with the exterior colours of the vehicle.

In order to use less finite, primary resources the EX90 contains almost 50 kilograms of recycled plastics and bio-based materials per vehicle. That’s the highest amount of non-primary fossil-based materials in the Volvo line-up, setting a new bar for the future.
